The land, where the sun is born

Description:

Location: Department Cesar

Pueblo Bello: Located at 1200 masl, in the Sierra Nevada. Agriculture is the main source of income in this region, especially coffee. A small part of the population are Arhuaca indigenous.

Nabusimake: It is an indigenous reserve, known as the capital of the Arhuaca of the Sierra Nevada. In the Iku language, Nabusimake is called „Land where the sun is born“. The village is situated in a huge valley, 2000 masl, surrounded by mountains.

In this region, different seasons of the year don´t exist, but the climate and temperature depend on the altitude above sea level as well as the wind and rain conditions. This is why you can find a wide variety of ecosystems.

Typical for the entire region are the impressing landscapes with virgin forests, where the indigenous people are still practicing their ancient customs and rites.

The average temperatures are between 20 degrees Celsius during the day and about 10 degrees in the nights.

It is recommended to bring clothes that are adequate for those conditions. The accommodation is a simple but comfortable farmhouse.
